Bettie Exposed

Bettie Page was more than just a beautiful pin up girl, she was a pop-culture, fashion, and modeling Icon and still is today, but if you mentioned her name to most people, they’d probably give you a blank stare and not even recognize her name.

Bettie was the most popular model in the 1950’s, and was featured in numerous men’s magazines at the time. She shone with a freshness that had never been seen in the modeling industry and photographed without elaborate props, or costumes. She produced some of the most beautiful and most natural pictures to ever grace the covers of hundreds of magazines. Some of her most recognizable trademarks were her deep blue eyes, smoothly tanned skin, and her coal-black hair and bangs. Her “girl next door” look and smile only complemented the explosive combo of features. However, her world was never all glitz and glam having also experienced childhood struggles, and several divorces.

In the 1980’s through 1990’s Bettie’s career was re-launched when her face started appearing on comic books, and artists starting using their powerful images to immortalize their idol. The media was especially interested in her after her disappearance, and conducted a countrywide search. This all introduced Bettie Page to a new fan base.

Bettie’s undeniable influence is still present today in fashion, films, and magazines. The dark-haired girl from Nashville has become a living legend, a modern icon, and is a symbol of beauty and femininity. The new film “The Notorious Bettie Page” is a biography about her life up until the senate investigation. The film is coming out this month (April 2006), so if you want to know her WHOLE story... go watch it!!
